store bought caesar dressing

by Jessie H » Mon Feb 07, 2011 6:32 pm

i'm preparing dinner for 7 or 8 people tomorrow with an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. i have quite a lot of work to do and thought i could take a short cut by buying bottled caesar salad dressing. can anyone recommend a brand that would be suitable?

Jessie, I've heard that the Paul Newman line of salad dressings is well above the median, and I'm pretty sure (not positive) that I've seen them in Kroger.

I can vouch for the Newman's; it's good but it is a vinegar based dressing. For a creamy dressing, I like Marzetti's. You can find it in the refrigerated section of the produce area, usually around the bagged salads, etc.

Ick! That's not a Caesar! :D I'm sorry my advice wasn't good. We don't usually use bottled dressings, but I've seen the Newman's in the kitchen at St. Matthew's, which is usually a reliable source of information. I would definitely go with creamy, though, so see what Annemarie and Beth wrote.

We love the Girards--our go-to is their Light Caesar.
