Let's Get A Standing Dining Group Going.........

by Bill Veneman » Tue Jun 26, 2007 2:23 pm

Kind of a once a month Dining Out Club, if you will.

Since joining this forum, I feel like I've had a friendship forming with several on here. And I'm sure that several of you feel the same way.

Foodies who want to go and try places together, get together and get to know your fellow "Foodies" and have a good meal, and a laugh or four at the same time.

What I propose is this (PLEASE keep in mind this is in the raw/formative/idea-a-bornin stage and nothing is set in stone):

*Those who wish to participate, pick a standing day each month (for example, the 3rd Tuesday of the month).

*We throw some ideas into the hat as to where to go as the group (local preferred, however, that's open to discussion)

*We eat, drink and have fun as foodies do.

Is there any interest is something like this? Thoughts? Variations? Suggestions?
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

Certainly an idea with merit, Bill - let's see if we can get it going.

Sounds like fun. Since I work weekends, early week nights are better, but don't let that influence the process much.

I would love to get in on something like this, With enough notice, my wife and I might be able to attend. My first suggestion for a place that I feel most of us would enjoy(and seems like a place most suited for an event like this) would be Mojito's. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere seems to lend itself to this sort of situation. Especially, when you consider that most of us here, even though some of us post more that others, we really are just a bunch of strangers. Just a thought.

Barb, of course, but I was thinking on more of a monthly basis, than a weekly basis (I'd be hard put to do it weekly myself)

Dan, I like the way you think......was kinda hoping that Mojito's would be thrown into the mix.

Would this be a "couples only" gathering?

Well, since "some people come in singles" as this "people" does, if this "once a month Dining Out Club" gathering is, in fact, open to couples and singles, count me in!

Okay. I think how about choosing one Tuesday evening per month. I am suggesting a Tuesday for two reasons: (1) usually, restaurants are less crowded early in the week snd (2) a number of our local restaurants are closed on Monday.

I agree that Mojito would be a great first outing.
