Sign up for Chicken & Dumplings Throwdown!

by Robin Garr » Tue May 12, 2009 8:27 am

The LouisvilleHotBytes Chicken & Dumplings Throwdown is coming up in just one week, Tuesday evening, May 19, from 6-9 p.m. at Standard Country Club, 8208 Brownsboro Road.

We hope to draw a big crowd of forumites, families and friends to cheer on local chefs as they compete for the judges' and the crowd's acclaim for best chicken and dumplings in town. Naturally plenty of tastes will be available.

Admission is $10 a person, and 100 percent of proceeds will go to The Food Literacy Project is a local non-profit which does hands-on agricultural education programs on the farm for school and community groups, as well as professional development for educators.

(Note: Because of legal requirements, proceeds from the cash bar run by the country club will not be included; however, the entire $10 admission will go to the charity; LouisvilleHotBytes, as always, will take no administration or handling fees.

Please RSVP for the event by posting a reply in this thread if you plan to attend, telling us how many people will be in your group.

I'm still up for volunteering, just let me know where I can be of help. My husband may come as a guest.

What are the payment arrangements?

Linda, we're going to keep it real simple. Just pay $10 at the door, all proceeds to The Food Literacy Project. Cash bar is run by the country club, separate and distinct from the fund-raiser.

I should be able to make it. What attire does this call for?

You have two choices: A chicken suit, or a dumpling costume.

Clean attire and shoes should do it Paul. As a Country Club they are very used to folks in shorts in their buildings.

I'll come as the bird if you come as the bread.

That is, unless you're chicken!

(Apologies to everyone. I know that was awful, but I couldn't resist.)

Also, thanks Deb. I'll be sure switch out my denim overalls and put on some shoes. Sometimes I do have to repress my inner bumpkin, as I am from Western Kentucky.
