I'll come and bring an Asian-style chicken salad (Does that count as a main? if not give me some hints.) I'll also search out some books.

We will be in Nashville that weekend and I am really, really sad that I can't make it to this. I hope that we can plan another potluck get-together in the future that I can attend.

I hope everyone has a great time. Jessica, congrats on your new classroom. I wish you the best of luck!

We need a head count - a rough estimate, anyway.

I'm so lazy, though... :)

Rough, oh so rough, guesstimate would be 25. So plan on 15 and pack for 30.

Well we won't be selling at the Farmers Market next Saturday so no leftovers :D However, I will definitely get something wonderful together to bring. I'm thinking either fresh-baked bread or Mike will bring BBQ (pork butt or ribs). Or both. Any preferences? Generally I bring cookies wherever I go as well. My two little ones (ages 4 and 11 mos.) will be in tow so I hope someone else is bringing kids!

Looking forward to it!

I have settled on one of Richard's veggie trays - he promises to make it special. I am leaning toward seafood also, just not what yet. Do we need plates, plastic wear, cups and ice? I was planning on bringing some iced tea, maybe a flavored tea. Richard has to work and son will be at Boy Scouts, so it will be just litlle ole me.

All: In a colossal act of stupidity I didn't realize that picnic facilities needed to be rented from Metro Parks for use. I found this out this morning when I stopped by the park to scope out the facilities and saw a sign declaring such. I called Metro Parks and found out that you need a minimum of 2 weeks notice to rent and Thurman-Hutchins Park is already rented July 19th from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM..........

So, I have 2 alternatives that I can offer:

If we move the party to Sunday the 20th at 1:00 PM I can host it at our pavilion in Cardinal Harbour with a large building with tables, chairs, couchs, plates, all weather and air conditioned. It also has grills and a kitchen for those that wanted to cook on site. There is a swimming pool that all are welcome to use and we wouldn't have to worry about being rained out or

I can host it at my house on Saturday at the original time. If anyone has a better alternative please throw it out and again I apologize for my stupidity!

Either works for me - what is easier for you? I guess the parks are part of the effort to make more $$$ for Jerry. I have used many park facilities for group stuff and never paid a dime for it - thought that is what part of my taxes supported. :?

Ed, I thought parks were free, too! Go figure.

As Suzi said, honestly, whatever is more comfortable for you will be great. And maybe somebody will come up with an even smarter idea. Do Southern Indiana parks cost?

Either works for me because I'm off both days. I really appreciate all the consideration everyone is giving this event.

Well ... Sunday would be perfect for me because the Miss Kentucky Pageant is over and I would be able to come to the picnic. That being said, whatever is most convenient for everyone is fine with me. I'll be sending books regardless, but would actually be able to bring food if it were Sunday.

Sunday would be out for me- I must work at 2PM. If it turns out to be that day my spirit will be with you all- and I will make sure to get the books to Jessica no matter what.
