Re: BLT, and other Hot Sandwich Challange...

Okay, so to reiterate, the current line-up is me, some rookie named "Dan" (if that is your real name), mad scientists Ethan and Stephen, and Bret "Country Club" Donaldson. Judges are Suzi, Deb and Robin

I want to know if it's okay if I assemble my sandwiches on-site, like toast the bread there so it'll be hot and possibly put a little heat on the bacon. If anyone has an objection speak now or forever hold your peace!

We are all to make 6 servings of...whatever we're serving. In my case, it'll be a sandwich. I'm picturing one sandwich cut into quarters going to the three judges and Pierce, our host. Then another sandwich would be divided among the competitors (c'mon - did you think I don't want to eat BLT, too?) That means the other four sandwiches cut into quarters will serve 16 spectators.

Can we have a head count on spectators? Dave, is there a number of people you don't want to go above? Count my guy John as one spectator. Carol C and Bob C will be there. Linda B and her guy. Doogy. Seems like Tom and Gina might have said they'd attend at some point. Edited to add: Rebecca and Gayle.

I just want to make sure everyone will get a little bacon in their life, so I want to be sure to have enough ingredients on hand to feed everybody.

Last question: Judges, are we going to be doing a blind tasting, or will we do it iron chef-style, where we present our offering and tell you our ingredients while you taste?

Less than one week remains. Five chefs enter, one chef leaves. Enjoy your dignity this week, boys - this time next week you'll all be crying like little girls.

The fire marshal says we can have 50 people in the tap room, which would be too crowded. We have use of the whole space, 16,000 square feet, 3000 of that is A/C.

I vote for Iron Chef style. This way we get to learn the inspiration (other than Bacon) for each dish and get a little showpersonship to boot.

I grow many different heirlooms ,usually I have about 12 different varieties producing at any one time. Most often I have more than I can move during the weekend, so....if anybodys interested I would enjoy bringing some down for a tomato tasting.

And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

John, that would be great. Do you have any Cherokee purples ripening right now? If so, I might want to snag some for my entry...

I know a bartender that can be bribed with heirlooms, not gonna mention any names though...

Bring as many tomatoes as you want to get rid of, John. I can eat 'em by the bagful and they are on my diet!

Really looking forward to this guys(and girl)!!!

Marsha, I'm planning on bringing a toaster oven to heat up bacon and toast bread that you are welcome to use if you like!

Also, I currently have 12 tickets on hand and probably another 4 coming so all contestants and judges are welcome to attend the game!
