Burgoo Throwdown

by Mark B » Sat Apr 24, 2010 9:47 am

I guess this makes the Burgoo Throwdown official. Just make a post here to enter and Linda (my wife) will keep track of things. Folks may want to team up with a friend to try and keep their costs down and workloads lighter. More to come later, keep checking back. Lets light this candle!

Definitely Linda should always be referred to as the "Lovely Linda."

I would like to throw my hat in as a volunteer for the burgoo throw down. Let me know what I can do to help out

There is no entry fee, just a pot of Burgoo to feed the crowd(?) with 1 or 2 oz. samplings. We have decided to go with an admission price with the proceeds going to Organ Transplant. And I stand corrected, my lovely bride Linda.

So do we have any idea who's cooking this gig yet ? Is it going to be "Pro-Am" or are we just going head to head and let the chips fall. I'm all for raising a LOT of money but there are some "bragging rights" to be had here.

Steve,

I have noticed a plethora of fat squirrels and plump rabbits in our yard. I have big pots...

We were out in east Tennessee this weekend and the road-kill Possums were THICK. Unfortunately I was never quick enough on my U-turns and the locals beat me to the good ones every time.

I do not think it will be a go this year. I started too late and was not organized well enough, sorry.
I will try earlier in the year next year. Once again I apologize for stirring the pot and not adding anything.

It's okay, Mark. Your effort is appreciated. Burgoo is a real project, and I know that after making noises about entering with my grandfather's recipe, I realized there's no way I was going to have that kind of time.

We're about due for a big offline or throwdown, though ... it's been a while, and with summer coming up, some kind of a gathering would be fun.
