Playgrounds

I have recently moved back to the area and I have a high-energy 2 year old boy. Where are the best playgrounds in town for kids to burn off extra energy? We live in the east end, so that area would be prefered, but other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

When my kids were smaller, the two favorites were Hogan's Fountain area of Cherokee and Waterfront Park, neither of which is in the East End.

What part of the East End? If around Westport Rd, Springhurst area, there is EP Tom Sawyer Park and Hounz Lane Park.

Yeah, I know about Hounz Lane and Tom Sawyer parks. Those are okay, but nothing special. I actually took the suggestion above and went to Cherokee Park today. The play fountains were fun. Any other parks in town with similar features? Does Waterfront Park have fountains kids can run through?

yes, Waterfront Park has a fountain, as do Tyler Park and George Rogers Clark Park (both nearer me than the East End)--I assume lots of other parks do as well, but I don't know.

You can actually learn a lot about the city parks at the city website:

Sorry, I thought that you were asking for parks in the east end. But Waterfront Park has a great water feature for kids, it is close to Tumbleweed. And then to the west, past the bridge, is another playground. And consider becoming a member to the Louisville Zoo. They have a new water feature. And there is so much to see there, even in the fall and winter.

I have spent many, many hours at the Zoo playground in all seasons and urge you to go enjoy it!

I would say the Zoo since they now have the water park open. If the zoo is not your thing, then the water park by Tumbleweed on the river front is excellent! They have water, sand and play equipment! My kids love the place! Plus it's FREE!

Seneca park has a playground. It might be small but it serves its purpose.

Brown Park is fun (Kresge Way & Browns Ln) by Baptist East Hospital & The Mall St. Matthews.
It is a nature park with a playground as well as plenty of ducks to feed and paths that take you through the woods, along the creek. I have been taking my friend's little ones there since they were 2 and they beg to go!
