Lousville is a top 25 Bang for your Buck city

Pretty good article, but not a big surprise to me having lived in other, more expensive places. People often don't realize how affordable Louisville really is...

Yeah, not shocked at all. Pretty much what the homegrown folk have known all these years.

I'll be bookmarking this information, seeing that I'll be conducting a nationwide job search next Fall in a field that doesn't roll out the dolla, dolla bills (yo) at the entry-level.

Question for the masses. Of the cities listed above Louisville, where would you consider living? Because, while some of those might offer better bang, I don't see myself living there.

My list would definitely include Chattanooga and Knoxville and would probably include Colorado Springs, Columbia (SC), and Greenville (SC). Would have to think more about the other 19.

I'm glad you shared this link! Now I know which part of Florida to move to to escape this cold weather. Palm Bay, #18 on the list. Yeah!

I'd definitely include Chattanooga. We spend a lot of time their visiting friends and we love it. It feels a lot like The 'Ville in many respects.

I looked at the chart. We're worse than #34 in six out of eight categories. Not that impressive. Just little things like jobs and foreclosures, among other things that are fine if you're not affected by them.

The only two things we hit top twenty five in are "real estate taxes" and "job forecast."

Job forecast? Our unemployment rate is horrible, but nice forecast. Yippeeeeee....my guess is the only reason that is good is because people are aging and we have a lot of hospitals here.

And really, is "real estate taxes" something you think about when choosing where to live? I mean, yeah, maybe slightly, but it is pretty darn low on my personal list when thinking about quality of life.

I don't know how the got us to #24 overall. The stats they present don't indicate it!

(the chart is very hard to read too)

I'm with you Nimbus, I have no idea how they reasoned this. We do have a relatively short commute but no public transportation (really) compared to some cities. The unemployment rate is high and frankly I don't think it's going to get better for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love living in Louisville but it's mostly for the affordable arts and dining scene and proximity of rural areas near urban areas.
