Trick or Treat Times ?

by Steve P » Thu Oct 01, 2009 8:21 pm

Probably a bit premature to ask this but does anyone know the time and date of Trick or Treat night in LaGrange/Oldham Co ? We're trying to wrap up the social calendar for the month and always try to make time for the little ghosts and goblins.

Steve, I don't know that Oldham is any different, but in Louisville there's no designated time as far as I know. Just Oct. 31 whenever it falls - Saturday, this year. In our neighborhood, little kids start showing up as soon as it's twilight, and the calls continue until around 8:30 or so.

Again, I'm not aware of any rules, statutes or ordinances setting specific allowable times or dates, it's just tradition. If Oldham is more restrictive, I'm sure someone here will know ...

This will probably be the last trick or treat Halloween for my son. His worst "treat"? Last year someone was giving away Cod Liver Oil capsule packs from a well known vitamin company. My son mentioned something about how the road to hell is paved by people who hate kids so much they would give them cod liver oil as a halloween treat. I agree.

No "official" day or time for T 'n T'rs in the OC that I am aware of Steve.

Ed,

I was probably sixteen at the time and my mom was teaching a night class, so my buddy and I were left with the responsibility of handing out the trick or treat candy on Halloween (yes, yes I did just use the words sixteen and responsibility in the same sentence...try THAT sometime). Anyway, we (eh-hem) had a case of the munchies so by the time it came to handing out the candy we were a wee bit light. Being resourceful individuals, as well as the offspring of a mother who lived through the Great Depression (and thus was never without 6 weeks of canned food "just in case")....We began handing out cans of Campbells soup. The kids hated us for it but I'm betting mom and dad weren't that annoyed at all.
