any recommendations for tutors-club z?

by Ellen White » Mon Sep 07, 2009 7:58 pm

Does anyone know anything about Club Z in-home tutoring? Or any other tutoring? I am looking for a chemistry/math tutor for my high school junior. Thanks.

Ellen,

Sorry, no leads, but I'd love to hear what you find out. We may be looking for a tutor too.

Have you tried at-school tutoring? Don't know what school you are at, but at Manual the National Honor Society students (NHS) does before and after school tutoring for free. We did however run into difficulties with someone always being there - the scheduling is very loose.

I asked at my daughter's school, but they don't have any students who tutor in chemistry.
I may check into Club Z; they are supposed to come to your house on your schedule with no contracts, but I have no idea how much they would charge.

Did you find their website and info request form? http://www.clubztutoring.com

Our local franchise is rated A+ by the BBB- no complaints since founding in 2001.

Also found this one:
http://www.louisvilletutors.comUnder their FAQ:
11. What are your fees?
The rates for Academic Tutoring vary by subject and range from $40/hr-$65/hr.

Club Z called me back (I had submitted a query on their website).
They first come to your house for a registration meeting, where they ask you questions to try to get a feel for the student, so they can match the tutor with the child's personality.
You have to pay a $75 lifetime registration fee.
You set up a schedule with the tutor. They said it is usually 2 times a week, 1 hour each time, but they are flexible.
You purchase 4 hours of tutoring at a time; it is $40 per hour.
Sounds pretty reasonable.
