Kroger take over

by Nadine Kasper » Wed Aug 19, 2009 7:03 pm

today I was talking to a manager of kroger on lower brownsboro aks dirty kroger and she mentioned to me that sometime next year Kroger is kicking the dry cleaners and The Great Wall chinese place out after their lease is up. The reason I mentioned this is cause I think it is horrible that I company can just tell another company to leave when their lease is up and having no choice but leave

A lease is an agreement that extends for a certain length of time. When the time is up the lessor has no claim on the property. If a business wants a guaranteed place, they should buy a property. No reason why the lessee should have any claim to the property.

Kroger seldom, if ever, owns the physical properties of the stores. But if they want the additional property and are willing to pay, they will get it. Nothing wrong or illegal is being done.

That sounds like a super-Kroger is headed to that strip center. I'm not in the area any more, but that's got to be a net good thing for the neighborhood.

I certainly hope that Great Wall can find a new home. We get take-away from there consistently and it is exceptional!

To be honest...as the store physically becomes bigger...I avoid it more. I can't stand having to walk 100 yards when I forget something in the dairy section.

Annmarie - this is the Kroger in Clifton, on Lower Brownsboro - not far from Mellwood Ave, Frankfort Ave, or downtown.
