NO more "ham and eggs"

by Steve P » Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:17 pm

OK...So I've been needing an electrician. Whenever the need for a trades/craftsman arises on the home front I've always been inclined to seek out the reputable local "ham and egger" as opposed to the big company with a dispatcher and a fleet of trucks with the company logo plastered all over the side. It's not about saving money, it's about throwing the local guy a bone. OK,, so to date I have talked to two freaking electricians...not on the phone but mano-a-mano...face to face. "Oh yeah, I'll be there...8 am sharp".

BULL****

I've now wasted the better part of two days hanging out waiting for these two jerk-offs and haven't seen nor even had a "sorry I got tied up" phone call from either one of these Bozos. This is not the first time this has happened to me. In the past 4 or 5 years I've been stood up by two plumbers, a carpenter, a dry waller, a carpet installer and now two electricians. Well screw these ham and egg chuckle headed mouth breathers. If they don't want my business or if they are too inconsiderate to make a phone call they can just KMA...From now on I'm going with the big gunners and these little nickle and dime - no showin - no phone callin' Bevis's can pack sand.

NOTE: An electrician was recommended to me on this forum. The person recommended is NOT repeat NOT among the people I have spoken to.

WHEW !!!...Thank you...I feel much better now. My doctor told me not to keep this stuff bottled up inside.

Steve, let me know if you still need someone. My boyfriend is an electrical apprentice and could recommend one of his co-workers. They do industrial work, but many of the guys do residential on the side.

Have you ever "kept this stuff bottled up inside"?

Hmmmmmm....now that you mention it, probably not so much... Although in my defense I did manage to cut Phil a bit of slack and not pile on when somma y'all were busy layin' an old fashioned forumbyter ass whippin' on him. But hey, at least I'm a happy whiner, so I've got that going for me. :P

I realize that the economy is tough and money can be tight, but my experience has typically been when you go cheap, you get cheap....

No doubt about that my friend. I don't mind one iota paying high dollar for a good job...of any kind. Rather have something done well once than have to call someone to have it fixed again.

BTW, I am now up to THREE no show electricians.

Just wanted to say thank you to those of you who made recommendations. I finally got someone over this morning (Bill Mudd Electric) and the problem was isolated and repaired very quickly. Sure was a frustrating sequence of events. I still can't believe I was stood up by three separate electricians. I can understand if a person is busy and doesn't need the work but these three guys all made appointments and then just didn't show up (or call). Is that bizarre or what ?

Thanks for letting me rant.

Sorry I read this too late Steve. I am a foodie and electrician. I do work on the side and I think am pretty reasonable. But give a ring if you have trouble again.

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. Actually I do have a couple of other moderately sized jobs I'm going to need done in the next few moths. P.M. me you email or phone number and I'll drop ya a note when we get a little closer in. Thanks again.
