I hate to have to lead with a negative, Bill, but I found Hunter's Clock Repair - the little upstairs place behind Clifton's Pizza - to be iffy when I took an old Seth Thomas mantel clock in for maintenance and cleaning a year or so ago. It has the look of a neat old clock shop, but they just didn't seem to be organized. Didn't do the job right the first time, requiring me to bring it back. Then after they got it working (better, not perfectly) on the second try - no extra charge - they got some paperwork screwed up in their records and kept calling me back at odd hours wanting to know if I intended to come pick up my clock. Uh ... already had it. D'oh!
Bottom line, they work on a lot of clocks, and it's a local independent artisan, which are plusses; and in fairness, they did ultimately fix the clock. But it took a long time, was fairly expensive, and as noted, they left me feeling just a bit insecure about coming back another time.
