Shame, Shame, Shame at Bellarmine?

by Casandra C » Wed Apr 08, 2009 1:49 pm

Twice now I've driven down Newburg, passing Bellarmine, and seen two men standing at the intersection with a large yellow sign saying "Bellarmine University Shame, Shame, Shame on you". I am very curious what this is about- I would've asked them had I been stopped but I passed right through the light both times. Anyone know?

I have no idea but that sign group is seen all over town at various times so I dont doubt bellarmine is using non union workers for something.
The 'net is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it.

Most of the "shame, shame" signs - we see them all the time on 4SL - are paid picketers. They are usually day laborers that have no idea why they are there. I mostly see them protesting non-union labor situations. funny - day laborers do not have union!! (Written by an unwilling Teamster)

Thanks for your information! I have seen similar types of picketers in downtown Lexington when I lived there, but the "shame, shame, shame" sign is a new one for me and Bellarmine is the only place I've seen it.

Does anyone else think it is kind of inefficient to picket when no one (except perhaps people at that institution) knows what you're picketing FOR?

I think I saw similar signs outside the Gardner Lane shopping center when they were doing some construction-type work there.

I never had any idea what they were all about either.

Yeah. That's super effective.
