There was a quote by Bono in the latest issue of Rolling Stone...something to the effect that the only people actually BUYING music these days are teenage girls and old people (I'm pretty sure that by his definition I fall into the later catagory). I found that a bit hard to believe but then the thought occured to me that I have 2 daughters in their early 20's and (to my knowledge) neither of them owns an actual "store bought" CD...Interestingly they each have a computer full of music. Wonder where they they bought the music ?...(surrrrre they did Dad)

I'm 29 and haven't bought a "real cd" in 15 years. I'd much rather buy/download the one or two great songs on an album rather than buying the cd.

Justin,

Back in the "olden days" we'd spend hours playing the latest releases (OK, so maybe that wasn't all we were doing  ). Reading the "liner notes" and admiring the album artwork was part of the process of getting to know the artist and discovering what influences helped them to create their music. That might explain in part why the "over 50" crowd continues to buy CD's at an much higher rate than other people.
