Is Oaks day a total crush at the track, like Derby? I want to have a nice day at the races with out-of-town friend but not be smushed in a throng. When's a good time to go?

Basically, if you want to avoid being "smushed in a throng" avoid Oaks and Derby days....the Kentucky Oaks has become incresingly popular over the years, especially among locals, and if the weather is good can be very crowded...it's not quite the madhouse that Derby Day is, but getting close.

I guess that's why my last "furlough day" is Oaks day.....hardly any one in government works that day anyway - except EMS, Fire, Police and Public works!!!

Wednesday is my favorite day to go. The track is busy but not crazy and you still 'feel' the Derby vibe in the air. I have no patience for Derby and Oaks day.
