Do you fake tan?

by MichelleS » Wed Mar 18, 2009 9:49 pm

Warmer weather is making me feel fat and pasty. I'd like a little color on me but I don't go in the sun. Have you ever used any of the more affordable drug store brands of self tanners? Did they work? Did you turn orange? Are any of them unscented?

Yes, Michelle, I have for years. I like the Neutregena one with an SPF, but I think they are all pretty good any more. Lighter coverage is better to start ( won't show the streaks while you get the hang of applying it) and you can always apply another coat later. Also, wash your palms really good, and only lightly apply to the areas than tan faster ( knees /elbows) and those which don't normally tan much ( inner arms, etc).

There's a brand of lotion that has a mild amount of tanning solution in it. (I think its Jergen's) That's a great place to start in my opinion, because the effects are gradual and it's difficult to streak.

So Paul, enquiring minds want to know: do YOU use it? ;) So far only women have had the guts to admit they fake tan....

( BTW, you were right, that is the Jergen's brand)

I think Steve P admitted to fake tanning, and a bit more!

But yes, I've used it before at my girlfriend's prompting. Back in high school I also got an airbrush tan when we went to my senior prom (she was a sophomore then.) Two years ago she had me at a tanning salon in preparation for summer.

I suppose what I'm saying is, my skin is the second palest of anyone I've ever met (but not by much), and my girlfriend could pretty much talk me into anything. I imagine its only a matter of time until I'm applying some new unguent to my skin in the hopes of darkening it, although I'm never setting foot in a tanning bed again.
