whos online question

by John Hagan » Tue Mar 17, 2009 8:27 am

When I look near the bottom of the page I see a little section that shows whos online and the number of guests. Often it will show something that says google BOT or yahoo BOT. I know I am showing my computer illiteracy here, but whats a bot, and why are they here?
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Googlebot and yahoobot are both their respective search engines searchers. They go out and index websites and follow links from there so that they'll turn up in searches.
