I've been watching it nonstop since 11am. CNN has some absolutely astounding high-tech stuff going on with their broadcast. Barack's speech was amazing. Michelle and the children are adorable and the whole event is just making me feel so proud to be an American. I have been brought to tears of joy and awe several times this day. Watching history being made is truly a memorable moment in my life. I have a renewed sense of hope and optimism. God bless us all.

Yeah I thought so too. I guess the closing of a Target store gets more traffic. I am a terrible channel switcher and couldnt help flipping around the various networks. I thought it was hilarious that Fox(which I normally never watch other than for some comic relief) started to question the validity of the swearing in after John Roberts f@#!ed it up. The other funny Fox bit was when Barack and Bush were in the limo together and fox was reporting that all the cheering and waves were for Bush thanking him for his time in office. Well thats the great thing about this country, you can say anything you want, even if you have no idea what it is that your talking about.

Actually, they were waving him away. As in, good riddance. That's how I saw it. That's also how I want it to be. Hello Barack. America's renewal is now in affect.

I made up a cool drinking game where you drink every time you hear the word "balls" on MSNBC! (This evening, during all the inaugural balls, it was pretty often).

I taped it and didn't get to see it til about an hour ago, fast-forwarding through two hours of talk and the constant scans of the growing crowds. And although I loved Aretha Franklin, I started to weep in earnest during Perlman/Yo Yo Ma and the other two (don't remember their names) playing "Simple Gifts" which I thought was the perfect choice and spectacularly played. The poet was wondeful. I loved the moment when Obama flubbed his first line and Michelle looked at him with that little grin of surprise and sweetness, and I thought his speech was very moving.

Thank god Bush is gone, and they couldn't wheel Cheney off the grounds fast enough. Looking forward to better days.

I watched at Cafe LouLou and the whole place burst into applause when Obama was sworn in. Life feels a little bit lighter in sprit today.
The moment John Roberts flubbed the oath I knew Fox would jump on it- I didn't know they did for sure until I just read John's post. Sharing a name with this notwork is the bane of my existance.

There was a little mutual flubbing going on, and it's bound to be noticed. I was delighted by Michelle Obama's facial expressions throughout the day, and especially as she interacted and reacted to her family.

We watched it on NBC at a local pub. What was up with the awful job of closed captioning that was done by NBC? It kept picking up random words from the tech crew. Because we were in a restaurant I had to rely on reading part of the speeches. There were times when all that was scrolling was HI...HI....YES...NO... (and then I swear they scrolled)...LAURA CROFT...BOOM ROOM... TO UPHOLD THE SHIRLEY....
It was terrible.

Actually Mark things already have changed. Millions of Americans woke up this morning to discover that their half empty glass containing despair and disillusion had been replaced with a glass that is now half full of pride and hope. Conversely a few Americans woke up this morning pis*** off because they realized they no longer owned the glass.

White House stops pending Bush regulations for review

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama's new administration ordered all federal agencies and departments on Tuesday to stop any pending regulations until they can be reviewed by incoming staff, halting last-minute Bush orders in their tracks.

"This afternoon, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel signed a memorandum sent to all agencies and departments to stop all pending regulations until a legal and policy review can be conducted by the Obama administration," the White House said in a statement issued just hours after Obama took office.

The review is a tool commonly used by a new administration to delay so-called "midnight regulations" put in place by a former president between the election and Inauguration Day.

Midnight regulations have been heavily used by recent former presidents, including the Democrat Bill Clinton, Republican George H. W. Bush, and most recently, the Republican George W. Bush.

Controversial late rules by the outgoing Bush administration include allowing the carrying of concealed weapons in some national parks and prohibiting medical facilities from receiving federal money for discriminating against doctors and nurses who refuse to assist with abortions or dispense contraceptives based on religious grounds.

Federal law requires a 60-day waiting period before any major regulatory changes become law, so some presidents try to publish new major regulations to ensure they go into effect before the new president's inauguration on January 20.
