TEMPORARILY closing - Westport Rd Target in St. Matthews

by Marsha L. » Mon Jan 19, 2009 4:05 pm

I was in the St. Matthews Target store at the corner of Westport Rd and Thierman Lane on Saturday morning and there were signs stating that February 7th is thier last day before they close - and the adjacent sign said "Come back in October, 2009 when we re-open", so I guess they are closing for renovation or conversion of some sort.

Anybody have the scoop on this?

they're going to put in a Super Target there. From what I understood was that they were going to demolish the old building and build a completely new store. I hope someone else can confirm that.

Marsha,

Thanks for the warning. I occasionally go out there when they are out of something at my Target ( Springhurst). Never would have realized they were closed. Thanks for saving me the trip!

Thanks, Marsha! That's my store...I guess I should tell all my friends not to get married or have a baby from now until October!

Are there any other Super Targets in town? I don't think I have been to one. I did go to a very large one in Cherry Hill, NJ not too long ago but was looking for something specific.

I was wondering when that was going to happen- they announced it two and a half years ago. It was supposed to have been finished last year. I thought they scraped the idea.

Gary the shelves are becoming more and more empty everyday... I am sure the wrecking ball is parked around a corner somewhere just waiting!

Marsha,

We did a lot of out shopping at Super Target when we lived in "The Cities"...a lot of their "store brand" products (Archer Farms) were pretty good. The produce was always some of the best in town, the meat was OK...nothing special. I'd put the overall shopping experience WAY north of Walmart.

That's "our" Target, too, and Mary is disconsolate. She just doesn't know how she's going to last until October. :D

Oh man.....now I'm going to have to go out to the Snyder to go Targetting..........I love the one at Hubbards because you can in and out of there with relative ease, and the parking lot isn't "boobie trapped"

It's right around the corner from St. Matthew's Episcopal. Mary drags me to Target after church just about every Sunday. Saaaaaay ... maybe this isn't such a bad deal ... 8)

AHHHHH! Whatever will I do?!?!?

If you live in Crescent Hill, the Indiana store is actually pretty close, but I'll miss St. Matthews.

Good point. It's also really not that long a haul from Crescent Hill out I71 to the Snyder and the Springhurst Target, but either way, it's not the same. :(

Do not despair everyone! There are several other Targets in Louisville besides Springhurst and So.Ind.

There is one out Taylorsville Rd., before you hit Hurstbourne.
Another behind the old Bashford Manor Mall.

Happy Shopping!
