I need a lump of Coal

by GaryF » Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:51 am

I never imagined I would ever need such a thing but it had befallen me to put together a gag gift for a co-worker. Any ideas where I can get one in the next day or two?
Thanks

Gary,

I'd have my MIL bring you some directly from Harlan County, but she won't be here until Xmas Day....

Annamarie's right, they'll have it at Spencer's, but pity to you to have to go to the MALL this late- I'm avoiding it like the plague. Let us know when you've returned so we know you made it out alive.

omg, you couldn't pay me enough to go to the mall this close to Christmas. I went to TJ Maxx last week, and the line was out the door, and people were pushing and shoving. NO THANKS!

He's getting a moldy orange- I'm no where near young or dumb enough to think I'd get out of the mall without a psychiatric meltdown. But now I know for next year. Thanks everyone.

Actually the malls aren't too bad--it's the traffic between the two that's awful.

No offense, but ordering coal from Minnesota? Buying it from a gift shop at the mall? We are in Kentucky, for pete's sake - it's like taking coals to Newcastle (I couldn't resist).
Many people with older homes still have some coal in the old bin in the basement and the Cumberland Elkhorn place would be an interesting little trip as well. There's probably coal along most railroad tracks.
Many years ago I was a lab tech in a coal analysis lab and had access to lots of unused samples, so I gave my girlfriend a lump of Wyoming Powder River low-sulfur coal. Instead of getting mad, she thought it was pretty.

I know that it is to late for the original poster but....if anybody ever needs any coal I have a large pile here on the farm. Left over from when they used to heat the greenhouses with it. Its the real deal, not that powder river low sulfur stuff.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.
