Nashville Trader Joe's

This may be old news ....There is now a Trader Joe's in Nashville. They are now a little bit closer:-). Unfortunately, I guess they will never make it to Louisville.

The one around Cincy is closer than Nashville for sure. I do not understand how they can be closer being in Nashville. Also, there is always hope that they will be in the Ville. At one time they were in neither Cincy nor Nashville.

We had a "Trader's" in Minneapolis and I guess I don't "get it"...Other than some fairly tasty cheap wine there wasn't a lot there that caused me to go "WOW !!! The place was jammin' when it first opened, now not so much (I'm told).

I dunno...maybe it's just me.

I've shopped at Trader Joe's in different cities. They seem to have decent deals on meat and iqf fish products and a nice cheese selection. The California stores have a nice produce selection. It's catch as catch can because they usually don't have much square footage. It's a nice change from normal supermarket fare, though.

A not-terribly widely known fact: TJ's is owned by German supermarket chain Aldi.

Weren't we discussing this earlier and there was some problem with Kentucky's laws wrt selling wine at a grocery store? TJ's does a lot of wine business and if they can't sell wine, that's probably a deal killer for them.

There are TJ's in Indy too. I suspect that they are simply working their way methodically through the population charts.

They could just open one in Jeffersonville if the wine thing is the hang up.

I am kind of a big deal.

"Don't get it."? A less expensive (albeit smaller) version of Whole Foods is enough to get.

Trader Joe's vs Jungle Jims

by Bob B » Tue Dec 30, 2008 5:28 pm

I always go to Jungle Jims when in Cincy, should I go to TJ's instead? Which is better?

Bob,

Becky and I prefer Jungle Jim's...in part because it is convenient for us since we pass (almost) right by it when we go back to Ohio to see our families.

I've got to agree with you Steve. I prefer Jungle Jim's to Trader Joe's, and my preference has nothing to do with convenience or the road traveled.
