Gasoline?

by Doogy R » Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:09 pm

Anyone have issues obtaining gas? I sure did. Took me 3 days. Sunday I wasn't getting any. Monday I went to 8 places around me, 6 were out and the 2 that had it had lines out onto Westport Road and Hurstbourne. I was in my reserve (the last gallon) so I couldn't wait in 2 hour lines. Early this morning, the Speedway at Chamberlain and Westport had some gas. $4.159 a gallon and CASH only. I was down to $34.00 in cash so I got 8 gallons. I went to the grocery Saturday so I am ok on food and beverage. Best of luck to all.

As posted in another thread, the little Sav-A-Step Marathon at Lex and Payne, next door to Jackson's Organic Coffee, has had $4.19 gas and no more than one or two cars in line both yesterday and today - during the afternoon, before commuter rush.

We were out at DakShin Indian tonight, and on the way home, the big station at Bardstown Road and Breckinridge Lane appeared to be doing a good business but without unreasonable lines. I think regular was $4.15.

We waited about 20 minutes for gas at Costco yesterday afternoon - $3.96. I have never seen lines that long there!

J'Town has gas aplenty ... Thonrton's was $4.09 when I topped off the tank this morning. Cash or credit. Also Kroger's at Hurstbourne & Stonybrook (although the light is out at the same location!). The Neighborhood Market (Wal-Mart) on Billtown also had gasoline, although I don't recall the $$$$.

That also appears to be an affiliate of the national http://www.GasBuddy.com which is quick and easily searchable by zip code - it has a version for iPhone (and, I assume, for other smartphones) that's super-fast because all that comes up is a tiny search-engine space, so it only takes seconds to load even when you're not in range of high-speed access.

I use that site but found it unreliable during the 1st few days after IKE. People mainly just drive around and post the price they see on the signs. As I indicated, most places were out of gas around here on Monday. That type of info is not given on the site. No biggie, I finally got $34.00 worth of gas. That'll last a while in my Beetle.

One thing of note is that I was in Simpsonville yesterday and filled the tank. Gas was $3.999 there. The BP 1 mile from me is selling regular gasoline for $4.219 a gallon. Why is it that Louisville gasoline is always more expensive than the rest of the state? I was in Frankfort Friday and gas was $3.859 a gallon.
