Help KY kids get books

by Deb Hall » Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:24 pm

Friends,

Please consider going to this site and voting for Kentucky underprivileged students to receive these books, and forwarding this on to your book-loving friends. We are currently in 1st place, but of course many states are much larger making it easy for them to swamp our numbers. It only takes a minute and it’s a great cause!.

Thanks,

Deb

Subject: [Purified-L] Vote for Kentucky Kids to receive free books

This was brought to my attention through a friend in Eastern Kentucky who is a retired school librarian. It is a program to get underprivileged children hooked on reading. The state that wins this online vote will receive 50,000 new books for needy children.

All you have to do is follow the link below - you don't have to answer the question about your favorite book - just scroll down on the left hand side, select KY, put in your name and email (uncheck the box so you don't receive updates) and submit your vote.

Kentucky is currently in 3rd place. If we can move Kentucky up to 1st place, First Book will send 50,000 free books to the state for needy children. You can vote once each day.

Thanks for taking time to do this, and feel free to forward to your email contacts.

Done! I noted that one can vote more than once, so I plan on voting every day till the contest is over. -gayle

I just voted and Kentucky is on top of the list!....The next state in the hunt is West Virginia.

Just voted again. We are still number one!

Thanks for helping, folks. I knew this Forum would get behind this cause. Send it out to all your like-minded friends, too.

Have a great holiday weekend!
