1st Annual Kentucky Proud Weekend with Commissioner Farmer

by Russ Meredith » Wed Aug 13, 2008 3:19 pm

On August 16, 2008, the Heart of St. Matthews Farmer's Market will be hosting its 1st Annual Kentucky Proud Weekend. The Commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Richie Farmer, will be visiting the farmer's market between 9AM - 10AM and is expected to speak sometime during his attendance. We will have live music from Lewis Mathis and the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Office will have representatives from many of their programs. Come and join in the festivities at the greatest farmer's market in Louisville and meet your Kentucky Commissioner for Agriculture.

Kentucky Proud is the states farm marketing program that encompasses all the farms and food businesses in Kentucky to include roadside markets, farmer's markets, and restaurants. Producers and consumers can rely on this program to supply nutritious, quality foods throughout the state for all of our families. Come to the Heart of St. Matthews Farmer's Market on August 16, 2008 to purchase these products from many of our Kentucky Proud vendors and experience why "Nothing else is close."

Karma Farma Productions will also be filming pieces for a documentary called "Down to Earth". It is a fresh exploration of the community, history and process of sustainability through foods. For more information about the documentary please feel free to come out on Saturday and ask the crew as they are very excited about their project and being able to get into the market.
