This just in from Ken Shapero, who owned the late, lamented Jazz Factory and who is still - as this announcement suggests - doing his best to make great jazz available in Louisville:
This Saturday, Aug. 16, The Lincoln Foundation will present its annual "Night of Jazz" fundraiser, featuring a fabulous vocal talent, Cynthia Scott. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Ms. Scott, she's a world-class singer with amazing range, phrasing and power, reminiscent of the late Carmen McRae. She's performed all over the world.... and was recently asked by Wynton Marsalis to be the debut performer for Lincoln's Center's new Rose Room. You can listen to a sample of her work by clicking this link:

I hope you'll join me at 7 p.m. this Saturday at The Bomhard Theater in the Kentucky Center, for an absolutely fabulous performance by this stunning singer. She'll be accompanied by the great New York City pianist John di Martino and by a local rhythm section that includes Bennett Higgins on Tenor and Alto Saxophones, Tyrone Wheeler on Bass and Jonathan Higgins on Drums. Best wishes to you....
