Metro Landmarks Commission hearing for Colonial Gardens set

by Steve Magruder » Thu Aug 07, 2008 9:20 pm

Cross-posted from Louisville History & Issues...

I just got word from Stefanie Buzan that the Metro Landmarks Commission hearing regarding the landmark petition for Colonial Gardens will be taking place at the Iroquois High School auditorium at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 19. Iroquois High is at 4615 Taylor Blvd.

I've been informed that this meeting is about the merits of landmarking this property -- basically whether the historical and architectural facts about the building back up its "landmarkability" (for loss of a better word). Discussion about what might be developed on the property is not a part of this particular hearing.

This hearing is open to the public. Get directions here.

I will be doing a lot more to spread the word about this hearing, but for now, I have created a Facebook event that anyone on Facebook can join -- and it makes it easy to invite others as well.
