Carpenter reccomendations, please.

by JenS » Thu Jul 31, 2008 1:24 pm

I know that this subject has sort of been addressed before. I searched and found a post by Robin asking for reccomendations for carpenters. The work that he needed done seems to be different than what I want so I thought that I would ask again.

I am in need of a skilled carpenter who can expand a built-in bookshelf into a corner unit. I want to make the corner unit into an entertainment center. This project would be the centerpiece of our family room, so I really need a carpenter who's great at what they do.

Thanks
Jennifer

Jen, this is really second-hand, but one of the pharmacists at the Clifton Walgreen's told me way back that a guy named Peyton Hoge (I believe his father used to be the mayor of Anchorage) who lives in Crescent Hill is a *great* finish carpenter for stuff like that. I don't have a number or address, but he lives in Crescent Hill and is presumably listed.

My wife has also mentioned an older German fellow who lives near us who's supposed to be a great, old-fashioned craftsman, but I'll have to ask her when she gets home. We may not know anything about him except the house he lives in. :)

The carpenter you are talking about in Crescent Hill is Bernhard Peterson. He built my library (pics available if you wish!) and did other finish work for us in both our old Crescent Hill house and our Shelby County house. PM me if you want contact info.
