Just a lil ol' farmers market. UPDATE. 15 PIX.

by Doogy R » Sun Jul 27, 2008 8:04 pm

Down on KY 1694 off KY22 past the Paradise Dive shop is an awesome farmers market. They grow a lot of their produce across the street from where I reside. The man and woman who run the place are good old folk from the old days when this end of town was just a bunch of farms far away from the city. Now that this area is quickly becoming "citified", it's a fresh breath of air to find a small farm next door and the people who vend their crops. So, for anyone who lives in the area or may visit because this part of the Ville is becoming a foodieville, I might suggest you drop by. If you need more information or directions, just PM me. BTW, I am in no way affiliated with these good folk. I just want the good people on this board to know there is some great food in my backyard.

Just yesterday I picked up yellow and zucchini squash, a giant onion, some huge red ripe mayters, a lil basket of South Carolina peaches, sweet corn (I don't even cook this stuff) and a canned jar of mustard dill pickles. OMG is all I can say. They also had a variety of peppers, melons, yellow, orange and green mayters, white and red new taters, green beans, lima beans and a variety of jarred items. Even fresh KY honey. I am so fortunate to live right next door to this market.

Next time I'm there, I'll ask if I can take some pix. I got in trouble on another thread for not posting my own pix. I post a lot of pix here and over 90% are mine. Give me a break...LOL. :P

I'm out that way but I don't remember seeing it. Same side as the dive shop or not?

Turn at the light and they will be on your right. It is a great little place.

Do they have specific hours or are they open every day?

Thanks!

Saw that Saturday on a trip to the Norton karems....I'll have stop in since the Norton market was a little limited in it's offerings.

One note of interest...buy the local honey...it helps with your allergies since the honey is taken from Local bees....or so my natural foods inclined friend tells me.

They seem to be open everyday but the next time I'm there I'll find out for sure. I will also ask them if I can take a few pix.

I dropped by this evening. They are open 7 days a week, 10am-7pm. I also found out they are named Sherman and Sheila and were more than happy to allow me to take pix. Please also note that I had permission from the customers to take their pix. Several denied me, so I didn't take theirs. Thanks to the ladies who allowed me to do so. Sherman and Shelia look forward to being the Next LHB Stars.

DISCLAIMER. I, Doogy R, personally took all these digital photographs. In addition, I had the explicit permission from all individuals photographed. God, I hate that I have to state this crap. One more item. The pix were of much greater quality, but for some reason this site supports only very low quality resolution. If anyone would like to view the unedited pix, give me a PM. We can hook up by private e-mail.

Great pictures Doogy. I did not realize they were open during the week. I usually hit them on the weekend, so it is good to know I can go there during the week too.

You are not required to do any of those things. Doogy, I asked you in another thread to do just two common-sense things: (1) Do not steal other people's photos from other places on the net to post here; and (2) help us save bandwidth by not posting the same identical photo repeatedly in the forum. Post it once, then link to it if you wish to reference it again.

As to "low resolution," we do not allow posting photos of multiple megabytes. That would be a huge disservice to those people who still access the forum via dialup connection, and there's no need for it. The forum photo limits are more than sufficient for quality. Please don't blame the quality of your dark little snapshots on the forum software limits. Anyone can look through the variety of photos posted on our forum to see that this is a false and unfair charge.

In other words, Doogy, simply put, please grow up a little. The world is not out to get you. In fact, it rarely even notices you.

I don't wanna grow up, I am a Toys R Us Kid. And YOU noticed me. LOL. :D

By the way my PM mailbox fills up, I would say a LOT of people here notice me. Remember, I even asked you a while back to allow more storage space?

My "snapshots" are not dark, nor are they little. I have even been paid for some of my photography. I don't have a problem with criticism, but I do believe it should be positive or constructive in nature, not damning as is yours. I saw not a single word of positivity in your post about me trying to prop up some local farming folk.

Maybe you need to get a sense of humor and not take me so seriously. I think Sherman can help you find it.
