Wifi Community Locations

by Jenny H » Tue Jul 22, 2008 4:11 pm

My husband is about to start a new job that where he will be working from home. With small kids, this will actually probably turn into more working at various places that have wifi. I know places like Panera and MacAlister's have wifi which would work but I would hate for him to take up a table or be forced to order food. I think that public libraries might work best for him because of this. Do you all know of other places that would be good?

Pretty much all up and down Fourth St. There's always folks in front of Theater Square on their macs at lunch time.

I am fairly certain Waterfront Park is one huge hotspot. You can use this website to find all the hotspots in the Ville.

Not to be p!$$y or anything, but this one is extremely short on information and out of date.

Dang, I didn't know Crescent Hill and St. Matthews were in "Central" Louisville, either. There go the housing values! ;)

I didn't seem them mentioned in the listings, but Heine Bros. coffee is Wifi (at least those in the Highlands) And aren't all Starbucks? And probably most coffee shops? Oh, and I'm almost positive that Just Fresh on Bardstown Rd. is too.

I'm quite sure that Heine's all have wifi, although they have the kind that requires you to go through a process of clicking a link that makes you promise to Do No Evil, and at least at Frankfort Avenue on my iPhone, it is VERY slow. So few places fool with that any more, I wish they'd fire their lawyers and get some who grew up in the Internet age.

Starbucks used to use T-Mobile, requiring you to either have a paid T-Mobile hotspot account or pay by the hour. I hear that's changing, though.
