Could anyone suggest a good source for a privacy fence installed? Also, would like names of good/inexpensive landscapers. TIA!

I sure appreciate the feedback, Robert and Kimberly! We have a neighbor who is 'one of those' who complains about everything, no matter what you do. And by complain, I mean contacts the city, instead of having the courtesy of walking next door to ask. So we got this legal letter in the mail with 10 days to take care of a list of issues, that aren't even issues to anyone but HER. So I'm going to contact the fencing people that you both suggested TOMORROW, and others if any are suggested on this post. We so enjoy our back yard, and the natural serenity and beauty, and if she doesn't like nature, we will protect her from it. I'm sorry, I've so been holding back this rant!

We used Metro Fencing last year. They had the best estimate and we need the fence up by a certain date. The yard was nice and clean when they were done. I would recommend Metro to anyone, they did a great job.

Thanks for the places to call about fencing. We need to replace our fence, as well.

I'm about to be "one of those neighbors" I think. The people who have moved into the rental house next door to us are junk collectors. By that, I mean that on "big trash day," they take their 30 year old rusted pickup truck out, and pick through other people's trash. Then they bring their "treasures" home, and leave them to sit, for weeks, in their back yard, in full view of my kitchen window. Then, once they move the stuff out, they repeat the process. What a lovely view it is! The roof of their front porch rotted, and fell off, and they have not replaced it. I'm beyond frustrated. I called and complained last week, but to no avail. This has just started happening since these folks moved in. Our old neighbors were lovely. Obviously, nothing is being done about it, because they hauled in yet another huge pile last night. Way to make my property value skyrocket! I'm thinking about calling again this morning to complain. :x

Oh Michelle, I wouldn't blame you for that. I certainly wouldn't want to look at other people's junk, dilapidated roof, etc. And honestly, some of the stuff our neighbor complained about is justified because we got a late start on yard work this year with the loss of my husband's father. (we've been out of town a lot visiting his mom in Wisconsin, etc.). But we've been basically naturalizing our back yard. It feels like walking into the woods back there, but with a nice open and shaded area, and we try to keep it neat. I think to her, it looks like a bunch of weeds (it's not like that though), especially before we got to working on it. I'll post pics later on, once we have it more the way we want it, but it's very serene. I'm going to plant some wild flower seeds, and we saw this cool butterfly bench we might get, and I'd like to hang a rustic 2-person rope swing from the tree. Just kind of sweet. But I really think the privacy fence will help make everyone happier. What bothers me about it is why not just come to us about it? Maybe she's just not comfortable, but it's a bit frustring. Maybe insulting is a better term.

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations. Pam, I love your yard! We will call Metro this week as well. Today and the next few days are consumed with deadlines, so hopefully on Thursday. Thanks again!

Thanks Kim. My next door neighbor keeps adding more and more things to their backyard. But when they added the family of plastic deer, I told my husband that day, that we were getting a fence. It was up in the next couple of weeks....Life is good.

I'm sorry, Pam, but the family of plastic deer made me laugh! So I guess we shouldn't add that to our yard? Maybe in the front, where everyone can enjoy it. Yeah. We like to share.
