Memorial Day...The real reason

by robert szappanos » Sun May 25, 2008 2:56 pm

While some people have a day off or are having cookouts. I would like to remember the real reason for Memorial Day....The Vets... I would like to thank all of the veterans out there...including my late wife Dawn...for the service you have done in the past and present...If it was not for you we would not be and continue to be free....As a Vet my self I was proud to seve my country and continue to be proud of all that served even when others moved north to escape the service....I only wish that veterans would be remembered every day od the year not just a few days a year then forgoten till the next Memorial or Veterans Day. Again thanks for your sevice to our country.... :D :D :D :D

Here, Here...Thank you Robert for bringing up the fact we should at least take a moment and pause for those who chose to put it all out there for "Our Country"....

As a veteran myself (U.S. Army 1988-92, yep the Desert Storm Years) who has been there and done that...My heart goes out to our peers who have sacrificed so much for us to have the lives that we have today....

Even though I have chosen a career in "servitude", It pales in comparison to what the kids in today's military have to endure..

So while most of you are enjoying your "Three Day Weekend"... Please take a moment to think about why we celebrate it to begin with!

I agree. Here's to the Vets. Hopefully, the war in Iraq will be over soon and all those brave soldiers will be veterans back in their hometown.
