New Farmers Market

by GaryF » Wed May 07, 2008 4:27 pm

I was just at Whole Foods and ran into a farmers market in their parking lot. Dreamcatchers was there as was Gilberto Gilato and some others I recognize from Beargrass. I think they said this was the first day. It will be every Wed starting at 3PM. I was told that this a community outreach and that WF is taking no cut at all.

There is one most Saturday mornings at Preservation Park in Downtown Jeffersonville...

Not as trendy as the Bardstown Rd. Farmers Market;.... but there can be a lot of nice(usually better and a lot cheaper) things to be had there in probably 3 to 4 weeks if I have read the Almanac correctly....

Once upon a time there was a farmers market -ish operation that was comprised of local growers. You paid a subscription price and they would deliver a bushel of assorted , whatever was seasonal , vegetables to you once a week. You never know what would be in it - whatever was growing and ripe at the time. I have some folks at work that would like to do this again but I have no idea who to contact. Anybody here know?

Looks like you've already covered the ground, Hank! I love the concept of CSA, but it doesn't work for us for several reasons. We're a family of two, we love to go to the farmer's markets, and we have a small vegetable and herb garden at home, so even the smallest CSA investment just gives us way more than we need.
