Cave Hill is beautiful this week

I went to Cave Hill with my camera on a sunny day last week and took some great photos. Even if you don't take pictures, you should visit the cemetery this week; the trees are all in bloom and it is downright gorgeous there. Take some stale bread with you and feed the ducks, swans, geese and peacocks that congregate around the pond, and then stop by Burger's Market (by the side entrance of the cemetery at Ray and Grinstead) to peruse their great selection of produce and pasta and buy something from the butcher counter (these are some of the better butchers in Louisville, in my opinion.) Pick up some benedictine and house-made beaten biscuits and country ham for that Derby party.

You can see the rest of the Cave Hill pictures I took here on my flickr page.

Excellent pictures, Marsha! You really capture the feel of Cave Hill.

What kind of camera do you use?

It's an HP Photosmart R727, 6.2 megapixels (!!) It holds about 1400 snapshots. I think that might be my secret - I take so many, some are bound to come out good. Heh. Has a HUGE screen, too, something like 3.5 x 2.5 inches.

My only complaint about that camera is that with such a big screen, they figured "who's ever gonna use a viewfinder?". Ahem. In the bright sunlight at Cave Hill I couldn't make out a pixel of what was on the screen, I just had to aim and cross my fingers. Thank god for photo editing programs with a crop function.

Speaking of Cave Hill... Has anyone seen the peacock recently? We were there last week and asked about it. The folks in the office just said, "Oh, he'll show up. We get calls from the neighborhood that he's in their yard." Still, I'm worried. How many of you knew the ex-peacocks are buried, with their names, next to the office?

Thanks for the grins and giggles.
