Did you feel it?

This is a link to the the USGS Earthquake center. If you felt the Illinois earthquake, you can click on the "DID YOU FEEL IT" link and fill out a report. I know our house shook for a good 20 seconds. Scared the crap out of everybody, even the cat.

It woke both of us up out of a dead sleep. I got out of bed and turned on the light. All three dogs were standing and looking at me like, "What the heck is going on?" I have several tester candles in glass containers on a dresser. They were rattling together for at least 30 seconds. But no damage here.

I felt nothing. I must have been dead to the world. I called my hubby this morning, and he felt nothing, as well. My dogs didn't even bark. Everyone else I work with felt it, but most of them live out towards the Oldham County line, while I live in Hikes Point, so, who knows.

Didn't feel a thing here, and as a former Angeleño and survivor of the 1971 Sylmar 'quake, I'm hyper-sensitive. Maybe being perched atop the tough granite of Crescent Hill damped down the vibrations?

We live right down on the soft alluvial soil next to the river and it rattled us right out of bed. Awakening to the sound of water sloshing around in the toilet bowl is surreal. I remember that sound from the last earthquake I experienced in 1982 in Missoula, Montana. Same sound, same sensation.

Just had a 4.5 aftershock. This could go on for hours and even days.

It woke me up out of a sound sleep- All my pictures were rattling and the walls were shaking. I thought the water heater was exploding- it was the only explanation I could think of. Eathquake didn't even enter my mind. I'm glad everyone is safe.

Pix of some damage in the Ville. Also included are some pix of the underside of part of the Kennedy bridge. Makes one think twice about crossing it.

How surreal was that??? Here in Salem, I woke to the entire house sort of rumbling and the lamps on the bedside tables rattling. Though at first, just coming out of a sleepy sort of stupor, I wondered whether we were having a tornado (never would have expected an earthquake!), it was quickly evident something else was happening. Rushed out of bed to find the dogs standing in the hall looking startled and wary, and then Gary rushed up the stairs to ask if everything was okay up there. We stood there for a minute still feeling small tremors. And then later this morning a smaller one. Golly. And apparently some areas sustained some physical damage. Gary was on the phone with a colleague in Evansville when the first aftershock happened there as they spoke and then Gary felt it less than a minute later in Scottsburg.

Robin, any chance of moving this to the main board? I have some good links here and they're getting overlooked. Thanks.

Let's don't ... it's not about food, and the whole point of having separate sections is to keep the food and dining forums clear of off-topic discussions.

OK, but Shake Rattle and Roll is ok there. I am just not as creative or forward thinking as Will. :)
