Looking for community plant swaps

by Danielle S » Thu Apr 10, 2008 11:14 am

Hi all!
I’m a new homeowner and I’m trying to reclaim my yard. I’m interested in finding a friendly plant swap to get advice, ideas and maybe some plants. If anyone knows of any neighborhood gardening groups the information would be much appreciated. (preferably in Germantown, Highlands, or Crescent Hill/Clifton)
Thanks!

Peace, Love, Mulch

Sorry, I don't know anything about any upcoming plant swaps, but the Culbertson Mansion's annual Herb Sale is usually the weekend AFTER Derby. I found the following listing on-line at http://www.state.in.us/ism/StateHistoricSites/CulbertsonMansion/cm_activ.aspx.

HERB PRE-SALE
Friday May 9, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Get a head start on selecting plants for your herb garden. Prices average $2 to $4. Free admission. Gift Shop open.

HERB SALE
Saturday May 10, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Herb plants ready for your garden planting. Also hanging flower baskets. Free admission. Gift Shop open.

This sale is where I bought my Bay Tree a couple of years ago and it cost me less than HALF what they wanted at a local nursery for a 6-inch "stick" in a pot and instead I got a 12- or 15-inch "tree". I was so happy with it and it's still doing just great (wintering over in my kitchen right now).
