Italian gourmet shop in La Grange?

by C. Devlin » Thu Apr 03, 2008 12:42 pm

Anybody know the name of an Italian gourmet shop in La Grange? And how do they compare, say, to Lotsa Pasta?

The name is Delizie Italiane, and I haven't been in yet, but I intend to visit soon. I'm thrilled to have an Italian deli so close to home!

That's it! Thanks. I had a short conversation with someone over the phone a couple of days ago and could never quite hear the name correctly. Thanks.

Please report when you do, Andrea! I would hate to see serious competition to Lotsa Pasta, but I think LaGrange is far enough out to be acceptable. And a metro can't have too many Italian delis!

I love Lotsa Pasta, but their bread is unfortunate.

I visited Delizie Italiane today, and I can't recommend this place enough! The owners (Sandra and Caroline were there today) are warm and welcoming and it is so authentic (real Italian, not faux-italian). There is a small panetterria in the back with an espresso machine (only proper Italian espresso drinks, no flavors here) and so many imported treats in the deli case. I took home some imported prosciutto (fabulous) and speck (mind-blowingly good). They have take-out entrees that change daily, and I think they're the only place in La Grange (if not all of Oldham County) selling Blue Dog bread.

I truly hope that locals and folks from inside the Snyder frequent this place, as it is a fine addition to our other great gourmet markets. Buon appetito!
