Direct from Noah...I mean NOAA

by robert szappanos » Wed Apr 02, 2008 12:45 pm

It looks as if we are going to have another heavy rain event begining tonight and continuing through friday night. Over that period 2 to 5 inches of rain is expected across the lower ohio valley. Flooding is once again expected especially across southern indiana. Some of the rivers there have not fully receded yet from the previous rains. The ohio river will have to be watched over the weekend and into early next week. Remember for the best weather period http://www.weather.gov/lmk :D :D

We're not near the river, nor are we in a floodplain, but our "dry" pond has been filled beyond its capacity for three weeks now. With the most recent monstrous rain I wondered whether I should start finding sand bags because it began to seem a real possibility the pond might find its way into our basement. So the impending rains have me a little worried.

My mom and I are hoping her basement doesn't flood again. We had some work done and this will be a good test.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

Looks like the worst of it is going south of Louisville. I'm flying in from out of the country and am happy not to fight storms at 11PM tonight on my arrival. Wish me luck for a quick turnaround in ATL customs necessary to make my connection ....

Well, shoot! I just saw your note.

I made customs, only to be late leaving Atlanta, then circling Louisville for an hour last night waiting for the storms to move away from the runway (about midnight), then ran low on fuel, went to Nashville to refuel, eventually back to Louisville. Arrived at SDF at 3AM after having boarded the plane in ATL at 9:30 PM the previous evening. All in all, a heckuva long day!

Aw, man! I hate it when that happens. No urgency on the Email, but I'll drop you a note today, once I'm awake and have had my coffee ...
