Aircraft over Louisville

by Paul T Carney » Wed Mar 26, 2008 11:02 am

Anyone else notice the aircraft that were circling Louisville last night (Tuesday, 3/25/08) after midnight?
I know that Clinton was in the area, and assumed it had something to do with that.

Slept right through it! Surely we don't provide massive air cover for ex-Presidents, do we? If I were Clinton, I'd probably prefer to discourage the incumbent from using my image to help promote his "fear of terror war" during an election year, but maybe that's just me.

From our post in Crescent Hill between Bowman Field and downtown, I generally start noticing an increase in "interesting" aircraft flying around every year at this time as the runup to Thunder Over Louisville begins. Maybe some of that is starting up, too?

I just saw what looked like a giant pizza shaped UFO hovering over downtown, I bet that's what set the top of Iroquois park on fire the other day. Good thing I got my tinfoil hat on.

UFOs, military planes, snipers, giant pizzas, . . . I'm getting an idea for a Louisville-based video game!

Aircraft over Louisville? Those were just UPS planes, circling the city, so they'd make sure to all go over Germantown in the middle of the night, loudly, quite low, and spaced just far enough apart. Bitter? Who's bitter?

When I lived in Old Louisvile those UPS planes would come right over the roof of my house at night. They are so low you can read the numbers on the fusilage. They were loud enough that you couldn't hear the TV or the person speaking to you from across the room.

On second thought I probably shouldn't "go there" as I'm not sure all the black helicopters have been grounded yet. Perhaps we'll visit some more benign aviation tales over a cold beer and an oyster roll sometime after 1/20/08. I spent some time on Gitmo back in the 70's (while I was in the Navy)...not sure I want to be the first former guv'ment lackey to try out the new <eh-hem> "accomodations"...besides I hear the food is terrible.
