Stinky water?

by Laura SS » Fri Mar 30, 2007 9:26 pm

For a couple of weeks now, my house has been plagued by stinky, stinky, moldy-smelling water. I hadn't noticed because I've been down with a bad cold, but my husband sure did, and today I finally really smelled it myself. Called the water co, they say there's nothing that they know of. Anyone else have this problem right now, or in the past? We're trying to figure out if it's limited to our house in the Highlands (we think we've smelled the same smell in other locations around town, but we aren't 100% sure).

The nice water co. lady said that smell is normally due to algae in the river, but that isn't a known issue right now. She suggested pouring bleach down all our drains, then draining our water heater. We've done the bleach, and I'm hoping we can avoid the heater mess ...

I moved to the Highlands 2 months ago. Our water doesn't stink, but unless you have it turned all the way to cold then it is really cloudy. :?

No problem with the water here in Crestwood but I have noticed the smell you were talking about while I was out and about along Westport Rd the other day. I was in a parking lot and I remember thinking "Where is THAT coming from?"

We haven't noticed stinky water in the Cherokee Triangle area. I also have very cold water that isn't cloudy.

Sorry, I meant that we have both hot and cold water that is never cloudy.
