GPs

by Sallie P. » Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:40 am

Hi and thanks for all suggestions for a new Dentist since I am new to Louisville. Yes, I do have insurance but employers only give you a list of Drs and dentists that are covered by your insurance, not whether they are good or have great bedside manner:-)! That being the case....any suggestions for a General practitioner...It is sometimes really hard to find one...lots of them do not take new patients after a certain amount of time in their practice. My old Gynocologist was pretty good...but he decided to do dermabrasion on the side and started pushing that!!! I am out of there! So any help for new GPs or Gynocologists... My husband and I are retired so we are fairly flexible...just want someone great at listening and knows what they are talking about.

I think my family practitioner is outstanding: Albert Hoskins, 3900 Kresge Way (Baptist Hospital East), Suite 54 (Fifth Floor), 896-6696. He's very knowledgeable, gentle, great bedside manner, and he's a serious wine-and-food geek. :) My wife goes to Brenda Townes in the same practice and likes her, too. This one should also be very convenient to you in St. Matthews.

I need to get a new GP. The one I've had for the last few years is a flake, and her office staff are all incredibly surly and unpleasant. Nothing quite like being sick, then having your Dr.'s staff treat you like an incompetent moron. It's a wonder she actually has any patients.

I need a new one too. I was 5 months pregnant and had a separate issue. When I told him his response was "Are you sure?" One month, I could understand, but five and showing??? I haven't been real thrilled with him for a few visits anyway.

Having just come back from the dr this am, I would highly recommend Scott Young MD, in middletown. He is kind, listens, and doesn't rush you out the door.Seems to really know his job. Also, another dr told me that he goes to him as well. Always a good sign. His number is 244-9355. For OB/GYN Dr. Aaron Stewart is great-- his office has lots of docs, but I only see him. They are in the building next to Hooters on Dutchmans. Not too far from the old sears bldg. 897-0697. Good luck :D

Rex Lagerstrom is one of the best primary care physicians in town. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I love the Ob/Gyns at Women's First. They are also located at Baptist East. There are several women in the practice, and I'd be confident going to any of them. I've regularly seen Dr. Miller and Dr. Ohlmann.

Dr M. Jacobs Mills
2500 Hermitage Way
Louisville, KY 40242

(502) 425-2939

Dr Mills was my GP when I went to UofL. Regretfully I can not get to her East End office easily else she would be my GP again. I like my current GP but really enjoyed Dr. Mills.

I may have to call one of these fine doctors (hoping they're on my insurance). I'm really over being treated like I'm an inconvenience to her staff. The only way I can get an appt is if I call and threaten to go to immediate care, then, all of a sudden, when they realize they'll lose out on my money, they *tada!* find an appointment. How can you expect someone to schedule an appointment for being sick weeks in advance?

Lagerstrom & Hoskins are both good bets ! I believe that Dr. David Overly has rejoined this group as well. Overly is a very personable conservative doctor. Having seen them all Overly is the best!

Actually, Hoskins and Townes have left the group at Audubon and moved to their own practice at Baptist East. This is a plus in my mind, as the old practice had great doctors, but I wasn't always happy with office management.

Kind of late here, but wanted to add my Internist to the list. Phillip Fitzgerald, M.D. and his staff are wonderful. They are really very kind and Dr. Fitzgerald is the best! They are in the West office bldg and just moved to the LL from the first floor. I've been seeing Dr.Fitzgerald for 14 years.

I've had the pleasure of having Dr. Terrance Donahue as my GP at Kin'dread' for a while. Enjoyable, knows what he's doing and listens. His office is at:
