New LEO publication coming...

by Ashley D » Wed Mar 28, 2007 1:12 pm

I just wanted to let you all know that LEO is coming out with a really cool new niche publication. It's called URHere: Louisville, and it will debut at the Forecastle Festival on July 27th.

The reason I'm posting this here is because it will be focusing on locally owned businesses and neighborhoods.

It will be broken up by city quadrants, and will highlight everything from white linen restaurants to dive bars, art galleries to bagel shops, and everything in between.

I'm really excited about it, and just wanted to share the news! :)

Ashley, will it be distributed only downtown, inside the Watterson or in the outlying areas as well?

Ashley will this be out weekly or monthly or how frequently?
Will the regular LEO staff writers be doing the copy?. Will it be free?

It will be distributed all over the entire city- even at certain locations outside of the Watterson.

Both LEO staff, and freelance writers will be doing the copy, and the LEO design team is doing to design. It will have a very eclectic look, and will be much more similar to LEO than BOOM was.

It will be free, and will be an "annual round-up manual".

That's the plan for now, I think the pubisher plans on waiting to see how well it is received and then take it from there.

Wow. I thought I was all up on Louisville events, but this Forecastle Festival is a new one on me, and looks like a hot one! I can't wait!

I'm also looking forward to the new LEO publication. LEO has been very kind to Louisville, and I especially appreciate their 8664 coverage. So, I'll definitely keep a look out for it.

Keep an eye on Forecastle. I predict it's gonna be a hugh national event within the next 3 or 4 years. It's already grown considerably in the last 3 or 4 (not sure) years that's it's been around and it's garnering considerably attention from very big, national companies already. I think it's remarkable how it's progressed already. That's what can happen when someone with a great deal of drive and vision (like J.K.) follows their vision and ignores those saying, "It's been done before" or "you'll never make a dime off of it."

Coolio. I signed up for Forecastle's e-mail list on their site last night.

As soon as I start getting e-mails from them, I'll post them on my board. I want to publicize the heck out of this event.
