Why should you do this?

Goal: solve the following issue:

1. Jefferson County Public School buses only use 2% biodiesel (non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, high performance, local, inexpensive) + 98% petroleum diesel (toxic, carcinogenic, low performance, imported, expensive).

2. JCPS school buses should be models of health ... just like neighboring school districts in Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois (to name but a few) as well as across the United States. Their buses use >20% biodiesel + <80 petroleum diesel = dilution is the best cure for pollution.

3. Parents+ know the issue: the stickers on the back of JCPS school buses that say "Powered by Biodiesel" aren't telling the truth ... we want better for our kids and Louisville

4. We help small Kentucky family farmers stop burning the candle at both ends: we provide low-cost, high performance, low polluting biodiesel and educate these farmers to charge a green premium.

5. The Louisville Biodiesel Cooperative is working with members of the Kentucky Restaurant Association, MSD, YMCA Safe Place Services, Brown-Forman, the University of Louisville, St. Vincent de Paul, Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh's 9th District Green Triangle and Sodexo (to name but a few) to make more biodiesel (non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, high performance, local, inexpensive) available.

That said, we need more cooking oil to make, and only make, biodiesel.

Thought of the day: if every household in our community ... all 185,000 households, recycled just 1 gallon of waste cooking oil from their kitchen every month for a year ... then every single school bus in our community and a fair portion of the small family farmers would have 100% non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, high performance, lower cost biodiesel to completely replace their use of petroleum diesel.
