Mathew,
Normally I'm not much of a "conspiracy theorist" but by the same token I have always believed that if you see a bird and it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it's usually a duck.
Knowing a little of Bruton/SMI's history, combined with having time to sit and digest the events of the weekend, I'm personally convinced that this was a conspiracy (albeit one that "got away from them") to set the stage for extorting money from the state in the form of capital improvements. How else can you explain taking a venue that already has a history of traffic problems dating back 10 years, ADD forty thousand seats to that facility and then (on top of that) sell ten thousand "standing room only" tickets...all of which was done with no improvement to existing infrastructure ? Sounds like a "duck" to me.
