Recycling?

by Gayle DeM » Sat Mar 05, 2011 12:42 pm

Where can one recycle the following:
1. AA batteries?
2. Those fancy new light bulbs that are suppose to last years?

Also where may one dispose of yard waste?

Thank you!

Most Home Depot Store (A chain :) ) will reclycle your CFL bulbs.
Batteries + Store will recycle your old batteries
There may be other sites that will take both, but I'm not sure of any in Louisville, at lthough I'd be surprised if they did not exist.
Can't help you with yard waste as what doesn't wind up in our compost pile gets burned, which probably is frowned upon in the city.

Gayle, I don't know about the swirly bulbs, but there's a bin behind the firehouse on Frankfort Avenue at Galt where you can drop off batteries and maybe other odd things.

The city picks up yard waste at the curb in our neighborhood on Mondays. Maybe that's one of the post-merger benefits limited to those in the urban center for our additional taxes? I'm not sure.

Some info on city waste collection and recycling is here:
