Just Creations hosts Annual Rug Event!
Wednesday, March 23 through Saturday, March 26
Each year, Just Creations offers a special 4-day Oriental Rug Event, featuring a collection of
more than 300 handknotted, heirloom-quality rugs made by fairly paid adults in Pakistan.
Sizes range from 2’ x 3’s to 10’ x 14’s, as well as runners in varying sizes. The Main Rug
Gallery at Ten Thousand Villages in Pennsylvania supplies the rugs to Fair Trade stores
across the country.
This event is one-of-a-kind for Louisville and offers community members a chance to dress
up their home while supporting artisans in developing countries. The variety of sizes of rugs
allows something for every price range so that anyone can take home and enjoy a piece of
Pakistan in their own home.
The event begins on Wednesday, March 23 and runs through Saturday, March 26. Store
Hours during the event are: Wednesday, 10AM-6PM; Thursday, 10AM-8PM; Friday, 10AM-
9PM; Saturday, 10AM-6PM. There will be an Introduction to Oriental Rugs Seminar on
Thursday, March 24, beginning at 6:30PM. This will offer community members a chance to
learn more about the rugs and the artisans who create them. This type of educational
programming is key to the mission of Just Creations, helping to connect Louisville with the
international community.
Just Creations provides marketing assistance to low-income craftspeople in the developing
world. The sale of these products helps to provide a fair wage for the artisans and enables
them to pay for food, education, health care, and housing. As a member of the Fair Trade
Federation, Just Creations is committed to promoting the social and economic progress of
people in the developing regions of the world, including Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Just
Creations purchases exclusively from Fair Trade Organizations who work directly with artisans
and farmers to ensure that Fair Trade principles are practiced.
