Hmmmmmm. Not bad. But I win the tie breaker. (Garage Logic Community Code Para 12. subparagraph B.) Actually, I lied about the drive. I just slammed the car down it, and it parted the 1-inch of light, fluffy snow like Moses parting the Red Sea. But we did sweep off the side and front walks with a broom. No slippers, but Florsheim loafers ...

The neighbor with a CI > his age just plowed us out with his IH/Case tractor.

Bill,

I'm going to have to check with the Mayor for a reading on this one. Some of the boys down at Bill's Cafe-Hardware and Bait said the idea of having a neighbor plow your driveway sounds like something folks out in Euphoria or Liberal Lakes would do. I told 'em you probably just looked out your window and saw the guy doing it but a few of 'em weren't buying into that. These guys said that it's OK to borrow the tractor, returning it full of gas along with a token six-pack but otherwise only the aged or infirm should be accepting of such charity. Seeing a way out for you, I said "Yep, that's my buddy Bill.

That is a pretty accurate assessment of my current state.

Snow-mageddon Ver. 3.0. :P Guess I'd better get out and lay in an extra 12 pack of beer.

They way people are acting, you'd think that it's going to rain frogs and pestilence.
Jeez guys, it's just a little more snow. It's not like we haven't seen any this year.

Actually, I don't know where you guys are looking, but I had to go by St. Matthews Kroger yesterday - to get foil pie pans for an event Sunday, NOT milk and bread  - and there wasn't really much of a crowd at noon. The supplies of milk, bread and cat litter remained untouched.

We met friends at Majid's last night, and the place was packed.

So where exactly are you seeing the hysteria? TV weathercasters?

I get kinda tickled watching the local TV weather prognosticators...Their choice of adjectives borders on comical. Tripping around the "morning shows" on the dial this morning I learned that we are going to get "slammed" with 3 to 4 inches of snow  ...and that road conditions could become "dire" by rush hour (which I'm guessing is a full notch worse than the dreaded "treacherous").

So you're labeling all your fellow citizens on the basis of the antics of TV weather twinkies?

Just sayin' ...

:?: I suppose I'm not following...or perhaps something I said was taken out of context. I'm simply pointing out that the the choice of words these folks use is somewhat Chicken-Little-ish. I mean "slammed" ? By 3 to 4 inches of snow ? We'd have to be talking, I dunno, 12 or 13 inches before I would find myself using that particular word. It's all relative though (and in cases like this ratings driven). If these people can take a relatively minor weather event, of any kind, and crate even the weakest possibility (or doubt) in someone's mind that maybe something really significant is about to happen, then "poof" there's that little rating bump they were looking for. It's not just L'ville or just snow...it happens all over. In Minnesota if they get a prolonged "heat wave" of (gasp) temps in the mid to upper 80's, all of a sudden the weather folks are breathlessly reminding people to "check on the elderly". In parts of the southwest, if their is a half an inch of rain in the forecast, they start using words like "deluge". So it's all relative. Everyone enjoy the day...and the white stuff.
