Harmful Chemical Found in (Louisville) Tap Water

by Steve P » Mon Dec 20, 2010 6:01 pm

Well now....here's an interesting little tidbit. Wonder if we'll be hearing more about this ?

"Millions of Americans in at least 31 U.S. cities could be drinking tap water contaminated with the harmful chemical hexavalent chromium, according to a report released Monday by the non-profit Environmental Working Group...."

Included on the list...Louisville

My guess...this won't make the news, there is sleet/snow so there will be no mention of other important things like cancer causing contaminants in the water supply. Even though it's more than double the EPA limits.

Hmmmmm....Wouldn't it be cool if they discovered that mixing Bourbon with the water causes a chemical reaction that results in the chromium-whatever-it-is disappearing. :D

I'm pretty sure it does.

I know I don't feel quite as right unless I have my daily dose of hexamethylethyl death. It puts the sparkle in my eye and the spring in my step.

The way I see it, if there was enough chromium in the water to have any effect, Kentuckians would be known for bright and shiny teeth. Need I say more?

And here's another chemical compound too that's been discovered in the water: Dihydrogen Monoxide

To learn more FAQs on this chemical compound, go here:
http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html

And this chemical compound was previously discovered in 2006, in Louisville, Kentucky, David Karem, executive director of the Waterfront Development Corporation, a public body that operates Waterfront Park, which features a large, accessible public fountain, wished to deter bathers from using the fountain, without mentioning the actual bacterial contamination. "Counting on a lack of understanding about water's chemical makeup," he arranged for signs reading: "DANGER WATER – CONTAINS HIGH LEVELS OF HYDROGEN – KEEP OUT" to be posted on the fountain at public expense.

I don't think that's true. I saw a segment on this last night and Louisville is actually way under the EPA limits. The test is in relation to California's state limits, which are significantly lower than the EPA limits and are also the lowest in the nation. At least this is how I understood the information. I'm not saying it isn't worth looking into, just heading off the spread of misinformation.
