I need wiper blades ... fast!

by Robin Garr » Fri Dec 10, 2010 12:00 pm

I just noticed that the driver's side wiper blade has started to tear, and I really want them in good shape with rain and snow coming this weekend. Question: Where in the heck can I get them replaced, easy and fast? Cheap would be good too, but not mandatory. I really don't want to go out to Oxmoor Toyota and would rather get it done in Crescent Hill, Clifton, the Highlands if I can.

Anybody got advice?

Any oil change place can do this, unless you are driving a Lotus Elan or something. Autozone and Napa Autoparts has them if you want to do them yourself which is pretty simple.

They aren't hard to replace yourself. Walmart has them for like 5 bucks a piece

AutoZone. I think they'll put them on for you.

Thanks, all! I picked up a pair of Anco blaces for under $15 total at Bumper to Bumper on Lexington Road in St. Matthews. I consider St. Matthews part of Crescent Hill. ;) If I can't pop 'em in myself (although I can), I'll take them to River City Tire in Clifton for the install.

I'm pretty sure Robin is a man, so you'll need to turn in your man card if you can't change wiper blades. I've never been under a car in my life except to get a ball and even I can do that :P

I'm pretty sure Robin only has a "cylinder index" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garage_Logic ) of around nine. Not enough to be required to possess said knowledge. For future reference, all Auto Zone stores will put the blades on for you free of charge. They will also test and replace your battery and various other items.

Dude,

That is a SERIOUSLY low cylinder index. In the town of Garage Logic (county seat for Gumption County) that kind of thing might get you a citation. We need to get you a chain saw and maybe a riding mower and get that index up there where it belongs.

Steve
Do I get extra cylinder points because my engine is in the back and I have NO VANITY MIRROR in my MR2? I don't think I can live with only 4 points. I knew I shouldn't have bought a condo and sold that mower!

Carla,

Hmmmmm....good question. I'll have to check. I met a guy at the Gumption County Fair last fall who runs the Lawn Mower Museum in Right Wing Rapids...he might be able to give me a more solid answer. You are correct though...a cylinder index of four is mighty low. Then again if your condo is located in Diversityville or Liberal Lakes, it's probably pretty much the norm.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering whether I get extra cylinder points because my four cylinders run a hatchback (looks like an SUV) or if I lose cylinder points because it's a little bitty hatchback that gets good mileage.

It's a little known fact that a stick shift gets you additional cylinder points. Trust me on this.
