Best Tattoo Shop?

by RonnieD » Tue Nov 23, 2010 8:19 pm

For those of you who partake, what is the best tattoo shop in the city? And by best I mean: cleanest, best finished product, most professional, etc.

All recommendations appreciated.

My opinion - best 2 shops/artists in town are Jay Fish at Acme Ink on Bonnycastle and John Furse at Five Star Tattoo on Frankfort Ave.

I will second both and add Billy Noel. He does excellent work and his new shop should be open soon. It really depends on the style you're looking to get.

I second Acme Ink although I can't remember the name of the guy that inked me. A graphic artist friend (outside of the tattoo shop) did my design and I gave it to the inker. I was impressed with the stores cleanliness and the professionalism of the staff. Acme was recommended to me by a young man that had extensive tattoos from various shops so I figured with his experience he would know. I'd go back to Acme without hesitation.

A girl recommended Billy Noel to us a few months ago, she had a lot of tattoos and his work looked pretty nice. Keep us updated, I'm eventually gonna take the plunge for another one...

Whenever I see a nice tattoo and ask where it was done (if local), most of the responses come back Acme.

John Massie that works at 5 Star does really amazing tattoo work. He does some really unique work (and I'm biased because he's a great guy as well!) If you look him up on facebook under his name you can view his pics w/o being a friend of his.

In 20 years (+ or -)...when your skin starts sagging and that tattoo on your back starts looking more like a buzzard than a butterfly look me up on Facebook under "surgical tattoo removal".

Stephen! THAT'S why you wait until after your skin is already sagging to get your tattoo.

There's an ugliest tattoo.com site but every time I look through it it just depresses me. I can't help but wonder who those people are, why they are so grim about life and if they ever had parents at all. Then the rest of them just scare me.
